Since 1980s, the formation of habitants in Penghu Block has been greatly changed. Besides the old immigrates before 1949 and parts of native Shanghainese, more and more intruders have entered the community as new members, which has made the old Penghu Block become a mixed one nowadays. In this paper, the author chooses C Penghu Block in Shanghai as a study case and tries to describe the daily life of these native dwellers and their conflict, fission, contradiction and integration with intruders through direct observation. By the depiction of their daily life, the author wants to show its change during these years. Especially after so many intruders have flowed into the community, how the daily life of these native dwellers have been damaged and reconstructed. The author strives to catch and describe its changing course and to find out some concealed variables behind it, such as the space structure and the basic relation network etc.The paper is composed of six different parts. The first part is introduction. The author reviews the researches on slum and community changes at home and abroad, and then puts forward the academic hypothesis of this paper, that is invasion and succession theory of Chicago School, with the intension to approve its applicability in China's urban underclass community. In the second part, the general situation of C Penghu Block is revealed, according to historical materials and dictate of local people. The third part reflects the influences on local people's daily life caused by intruders. In the author's opinion, there are three different levels of influences, that is community, individuality and mentality. In the layer of community, the destroy to the original community environments can be observed. The impacts on the layer of individual is to intervene with neighborhood relations, and in the layer of mentality, we can clarify the disappearance of sense of ascription to their own community. The fourth part is concerned about the readapt process of local people, which can be divided into three stages. That is before, after and stabilization. Through these three stages, we can clearly understand how native dwellers construct the delicate relationship between intruders and readapt it. The fifth part discusses the reconstruction of local people's daily life in C Penghu Block. In this part the author tries to describe and outline the changing prospect of C Penghu Block from such aspects as neighborhood intercourses, community space and the immerging of landlord group etc. The sixth part is devoted to the research annotation and reflex. The author penetrates into the community structural change as well as the possibility and practice of reconstruction of daily life. On this base, she criticizes and develops the invasion and succession theory of Chicago School, furthermore puts forward some new problems remain unsolved.
