With the changing on employment system of college graduates, as well as the scale of higher education expansion and the industrial structure adjustment and the economical development pattern transformation in our country, the problem of college graduates unemployment become serious in recent years. This problem was focused by the public and many researches were carried out by academics. Although there are fruitful achievements thought varies methods, the shortage still lies on the lake of enough attention and thorough research to the college graduates individual employment-seeking behavior.This paper aims to exanimate the microscopic employment behavior of college graduates thought utilizing communication theory. Basic on viewpoint that the process of employment-seeking and finding a job is a communication process between college graduate and employers and the communication situation is the vital factor to college graduates employment, the paper attempts to find out the answers of the two questions below thought interviewing 15 graduates who graduated in 2004 and found their job in shanghai. The two question list as: How do the college graduates carries on their information to the employers during the employment-seeking process? What are the factors which affects the status of efficient communication and the effective communication?The main contents of the paper include: Firstly, the paper analyzes the three theories relative to communication theory, use the reference of theoretical model of communication to build a communication model of college graduates employment-seeking. Secondly, the paper analyzes the behaviors of college graduates, which come from different university, major in different specialized, and their characteristic varies, include communication of information, self-information confirmation, employment decision-making during the official communication stage, the communication preparatory stage and the communication following stage. The paper also describes the truly situation of the employment information communication and probe into the factors which affects the status of efficient communication and the effective communication.Finally, the paper draw some conclusion carefully, and then discuss the probably highlight to the college graduates and administrators of universities.The major conclusion of the paper includes:1. In the official information communication stage, the factors which leads to efficient communication is: the essential information lies on the resume material and the important experience demonstrated during the job interview.2. In the information communication preparatory stage, the universities the graduates form and the specialized they major in may be the factors which influence remarkably the chances of getting a job. On one hand, the graduates form the "hot specialized" may have more chooses in the personnel market because there are more posts demand for them, and they could get a suitable job easily. On the other hand, the graduates form the "cold specialized" may have more difficulties in getting a suitable job because there are less posts demand for them. However, they also could get a suitable job if they make great effort diligently.3. In communication following stage (or decision-making stage), there are many employment information communication behaviors which would turn out to be invalid since both the employer and the college graduates are facing the element uncertainty or the multiple options.
