| The emergence of a number of empty-nest families in rural areas is one of several results of China's social transformation. The support for the aged from empty-nest families in rural areas has been confronted with many difficulties and has been attached attention to the whole society. Based on field survey this article is aimed at researching the support system for the aged from empty-nest families in China's rural areas from the angle of view of economic support, daily life tendance and psychological comfort respectively. It believes that pro-modernization feature largely in the support pattern for the aged in China's rural areas. The aged of empty-nest families in China's rural areas tend to seek the support of inter-family support network on the ground of fracture of social security between rural areas and urban areas. On the support system for the aged from empty-nest family in rural areas there exists tendance difference due to the following factors such as children's sex, children's different working places, the death of spouse or not and so on.The role of rural community on the support for the aged from empty-nest family in rural areas is also discussed. This article argues that community support for the aged be valuable indigenous resource and will play more important role in the support for the aged from China's rural areas. But the inducement and mobilization of relative department of government is needed and some fund is necessary.The new attempt of this article lies in the following two. In the first place, ' family life circle' theory is tentatively integrated with reality condition of China's rural areas and the concept 'empty-nest families in China's rural areas' is unambiguously defined. Secondly, the concept 'family network' is tentatively integrated with 'social support network' and the new concept 'inter-family support network' is put foreword, with which the support pattern of the aged from empty-nest families in China's rural areas is analyzed.
