Higher education has a long history in England, as early as in 12, 13 centuries England had established the famous Oxford University (in 1168) and Cambridge University (in 1209). England also has a classical educational tradition, until early 19th century, Oxford University and Cambridge University which monopolized the English higher education still hugs and defends the classical tradition and is far away from the ebullition of the social economy life. But, from the 1930's, because the industrial revolution development needs the massive technical talented person and the managerial talent, the secondary education development urgently needs an expanded the higher education system, in addition the natural sciences development and the utilitarianism to the higher education reform impetus, as the head one batch of emerging cities university establishes in abundance take the University of London and Manchester University, and from this has brought the Oxford University, Cambridge University's profound change, this is in the English higher history of education famous "the new university movement". The new university movement emerged expanded the English higher education function, promoted Oxford, Cambridge and so on eldest child's study reform, and has had the significant influence to the world other places higher education.This article take this movement as the research subject, the goal is deepens to this movement understanding, and provides the model for our country higher education reform and the development.
