With the development of educational reforms, increasingly importance has been attached to the research in schools in recent years. Meanwhile, there are some problems existing in doing research work, such as arbitrariness, dispersal, inactivity and individuality. Therefore, to enhance the teachers 'research ability becomes a necessity. The methods that I have adopted in this essay includes document research, survey study and comparative method. Through this essay, the author is aiming to ravel that it is a necessity for teachers to do research work under the new syllabus reforming. It's the key to form the learning mode in schools and a way for teachers to learn and to be mature. A close analysis to the present states of research work in teachers shows that most of the teachers have realized the importance of doing research work, but lack of theory study; part of them have been participated in it actively, yet they lack of creativity. A very few number of them did make a sensation, but they only touched the surface. The main obstacles to enhance the research ability for teachers are: some haven't realized the importance of research work, they have no initiative; some lack of innovation and cooperation; theories and practice are isolated; some schools do not have effective monitory mechanism; the environment of doing research is unfavorable etc. At the end of this essay, the author put forward some basic strategies to solve these problems, including cognitive strategy, problem-solving strategy, team work on teaching and researching strategy, information strategy and mechanism protecting strategy.
