Internet is so called the fourth media excelled such traditional media as TV, Radio, newspaper and magazine. And it is rising with a speed without precedent in history and it has reached every part of the world. There is also a rise as far as the number of middle school students who usually go surfing the Internet. So, it can be said that the Internet is playing an important role in the study and life of middle school students. There are many aspects in which the Internet can influence the youth. Former researchers have done more on the influences from different viewpoints, and have reached the responding conclusion, which mainly deals with the negative influences on the user of the Internet, esp. on the middle school students. Therefore, teachers and parents are very strict with the children if they want to surf the Internet. What should we do in front of the Internet? How to instruct middle school students? Should we forbid children' s access to the computer and Internet? Keeping these questions in mind, this paper mainly deals with two questions: one is the influence of internet on the study of middle school students, and the other is the influence of internet on the development of middle school students. The author has read a large amount of reference, and launched a poll among some students of Grade 8 from middle schools and Grade 11 from Yanjihigh schools. Based on this poll, the author analyzes the influence of the internet on both middle school students' study and character shaping from four aspects: grade, sex, nationality and subject. The author hopes that the analysis can be shared with pedagogues, in order to instruct middle school students to take good advantages of the Internet.
