Since the 1920s, the construction of teaching materials in China has made great breakthrough and a new era with diverse teaching materials has come. More choices are available for middle schools and primary schools to choose in textbooks, thus it becomes more important to make an objective and scientific analysis and evaluation of different kinds of teaching materials. According to the new schemes and instruments made by the project committee , To enact the assessment instrument to general educational teaching materials, organized by education ministry to assess the new basic teaching materials, this thesis makes a dynamic analysis of and research into the biology textbooks published by Hebei Children's Press for junior high school students in an attempt to supply significant standards for reference during the wide promotion of the new teaching materials.This thesis totally consists of six parts.Part One mainly talks about the main features of the teaching materials. It gives a brief introduction and analysis of compiling features and the main structure of the teaching materials.Part Two is about the theories of research. It elaborates the idea and principle of modern curriculum theories, views on modern teaching material and evaluation of teaching materials.Part Three is concerned about the methods for research. It introduces the time, objects, principal methods and the respective design of teachers' and students' questionnaires.Part Four is the analysis and evaluation of the result. As the main body of this thesis, it's the analysis and general evaluation of both the teachers' and the students' result of the questionnaires. It makes a comparison and analysis of the teaching materials on the following dimensionalities: connotation of knowledge, ideology and culture, psychological and developmental rules, compiling level, orientation and characteristic. It further makes an analysis to see if there's obvious differences about the overall evaluation between different groups of teachers and students to test the effect of the application of the new teaching materials. Finally in this part, it points out the advantages and the disadvantages of the new teaching materials. The result shows in general the biology textbooks published by Hebei Children's Press are very popular with students and teachers as well.Part Five, as another main body of this thesis, put forward some proposals.
