The purposes of this research are stated as follows: in view of the bad shortage of "Gray Collar " personnel in our country, which are playing an ever greater gole on our social and economic stage, we set out to discover the gap between the capability of graduates from higher vocational schools and the "Crag collar" criteria, and to figure out the problem in the above mentioned academic or school training; seek to find a way to reform and guide the methodology of "Gray Collar" personnel training in higher vocational schools.The "Gray Collars" are a type of advanced technology-knowing personnel in the manufacturing industry and the creative industry, who possess a high measure of knewledge of theories, of work process and of practicabilities, and who are also capable of practical manipulation, on-the-spot management, and creative thinking. The training of "Gray Collar" personnel is both a necessity and probability in the development of society, of higher vocational schools, and of the students concerned. However, the present-day higher vocational schools graduates in our country fall short in such aspects as knowledge structure and capability structure, judging by "Gray Collar " criteria, Generally speaking, there are many problems existing in aspects from purposes of the personnel training to speciality design, from insufficiency of teacher to shortage of practice bases. Based on our research, we hold that the best way of "Gray collar" training should be school -company cooperation.
