On The Core Competency Of Universities

Universities are facing new challenges after our country's entry into WTO. In order to heighten their core competency, participate in market competition, universities fosters their advantageous competitive factors in different ways. Some scholars introduced core competency of corporation into universities management at the end of the last century. They put forward the core competency of universities. This article analyzes the existing environment of universities after their entry into WTO. Then, it summarizes the results of the research on core competency of corporation in existence. Based on the research on core competency of universities, it analyzes the definition, connotation, elements of, and features with the core competency of universities. Finally, it proposes some measures of fostering the core competency of universities.
