On the base of teaching practice and research, this paper analyses the problems of Geography Information System(GIS) application in the cultivation of high school students' information-literacy. It is the need of the information ages, an important goal of the foundation geography education on contemporarily age in cultivating the students' information-literacy. The author practises teaching in two respects of education and application of GIS technology, And it indicates that the application of GIS technology has important function in improving students' information-literacy .The thesis introduces the cultivation of information-literacy in the geographical education of high school, and explains the characteristic and information-literacy requirement in geographical course in high school. It also explores its status in geography teaching , analyses the function and develops the advantage of GIS and the base of theory in the cultivation of high school students information-literacy. Combining teaching experience, the author analyses the principle and method in it.The paper also indicates that we can train the ability of cooperating and exchanging and innovating of information, such as the consciousness of information, ability of analyzing and utilizing and processing of information through the education of GIS technology and auxiliary geographical teaching of GIS technology.
