Task-based approach has been a new developing form of communicative language teaching (CLT) in the past 20 years. It has transformed the basic concept of language use into practical classroom teaching method, namely "learning by doing". At present, task-based language teaching (TBLT) has aroused more and more attention, and the new National English Curricula Syllabus (experimental draft) also advocates the use of TBLT.Parallel to the popularity of TBLT, computer technology has achieved rapid development and the Internet has pervaded all aspects of people's life. So naturally, integrating the Internet into the classroom teaching is now becoming an inexorable trend. Aided by such a powerful technology, TBLT will be far too valuable not to. be exploited. In this thesis, the author briefly introduces TBLT through careful review of the literature concerned. Based on investigation into and research on the implementation of TBLT in the reading class of Senior High School, the author analyzes the necessity and feasibility of the Internet-assisted TBLT. In combination of teaching practice, this study attempts to present the ideal way of implementing task-based reading instruction with the aid of the Internet so that students' reading competence will be improved. Finally, the issue of integrating the Internet in TBLT process is carefully considered.
