English Reading has always been considered one of the most important parts of foreign language learning. Without reading, nothing can be done in the development of the competence in listening, speaking, writing and translating. Although it is 21st century, in most traditional classrooms, teachers still put more emphasis on language contents, vocabulary and literary, not on skills, strategies, context, practical and authentic. It is teacher-centered, which is difficult to reutilize students individualization. To the reading materials, they are uninteresting, difficult, outdated and simplistic. However in real life, the lack of authentic English environment and seldom-contacting foreigners also impedes the improvement of students' English proficiency. After Internet enters into the society as the biggest vehicle for information, one can keep pace with the modern by means of often reading on Net to gain the suitable new knowledge. The interactive, flexible, and authentic English learning environment of Internet brings about opportunities for motivating the students' reading interest, facilitating them thinking. Fortunately, the English Curriculum Criteria is being carried out throughout China, and it advocates the approach of task-based teaching and learning, which would completely change the instructional situation in which students learn knowledge passively. The development of modern educational technology urges us to teach Task-based English reading on Internet so as to develop students' language competence.In the study, the author constructed a new model, which is teaching task-based English reading on Internet. The interactive, flexible, and authentic English learning environment of Internet brings about opportunities for motivating the students' reading interest, facilitating them thinking. The knowledge of outside classroom can be widened. The students' ability of performing modern teaching facilities can also be improved. At the same time, using the model of teaching task-based English reading on Internet, the students are exposed to a language-rich environment. So the students have the opportunity to be authentically and truly involved in the language and in task-based classroom their spirit of cooperation can be enhanced.
