The developing history of physics has shown that physics is an experimental science.Physical experiments are the basic means for obtaining inductive materials, exploringphysical rules and knowing the physical world and also the sole standard to verify physicaltheories. During the emergency and development of physics, physical experiments are holdingan extremely significant post and playing a tremendous role from beginning to end. Physicscomes from productions, daily life and scientific experiments and therefore, observation andexperiments are the primary method to study and research physics. Physical experiments andteachings are performed not only to cultivate students' abilities of observation and thinking,starting work and operation, analyzing and solving problems, and creation, but also to traintheir scientific attitude for seeking truth from facts, good learning customs and strong interests.Especially at present when quality education is enhanced, experiments are a main approach toimplement quality education. However, it is still universal that phenomena of paying attentionto theories and neglecting experiments, or attaching much weight to results and lighteningcourses exist in physical teaching of middle school, leading to experimental classes becomingformalistic.It is particularly emphasized in the "physical course standard of middle school" recentlyissued by the Education Department that training of physical experiments is an importantcomponent in the structure of primary education, a significant activity for middle schoolstudents to know the world and the foundation for carrying out scientific researches. It alsoholds a unique status and role to cultivate quality and creative talents, to improve thescientific quality of overall students and to encourage the entire development of students. It isa pressing matter of the moment to implement new educational concepts in the "physicalcourse standard of middle school" and promote the reform of physical experiment training ofmiddle schools in China.The development of domestic training of physical experiments in middle schools afterour country was founded is reviewed in the paper, based on explaining the importance ofphysical experiments. From practical investigations deeply into middle schools, problemsexisting in domestic training of physical experiments in middle schools currently, such as,taking teaching knowledge as the dominant factor and putting experiments as the auxiliarymeans and etc., have been stated. These problems show that our domestic training of physicalexperiments in middle schools is a weak link and stands on a backward level, compared tothat in foreign developed countries. The backward causes are approached from five aspects ofideology, science and technology, scientific education, economy and test systems in this paper.The development of teaching of science experiments in foreign developed countries is alsointroduced, some advanced experience from them is used for reference and several points ofreasonable suggestions are put forward. In the meantime, to accelerate the reform of domestictraining of physical experiments in middle schools, strategic studies have been carried out. Itis hoped to benefit our current reform of physical experiment training.
