Research On The Development Of Cheerleading

Cheerleading is a kind of new sport of special glamour and it has got the favor of the people in many countries in a short time. Cheerleading has its own worldwide championships and it has become an international agonistic sport. Some people have begun to make suggestion that cheerleading should be listed as one of the competitive items in Olympic Games.The development of cheerleading in our country is still in the primary phase. Although it has made some practical achievements, it still lags far behind some foreign countries. The theoretic research about cheerleading is very scarce, and people in our nation are not so familiar with its development status. So, making a research on the history, status quo, development reasons and countermeasures of cheerleading will be propitious to people s correct understanding about cheerleading and to its scientific, sustainable and rapid development in our country.Using the methodologies of document, experts-interview, logic inference and observation, this thesis made a comprehensive analysis on the development status of cheerleading. The results indicate that cheerleading originated from American football playground.cheerleading is a kind of athletic sport in virtue of slogans, properties and through the revelation of all kinds of exciting and impressive movements to influence the audience to support their own team. Cheerleading contains dance and cheerleading.The characteristics for the development of cheerleading are: it adheres to other athletic sports;its contents are open;its participators have experienced a transfer from males to females;its functions have developed into diversity from singleness;and its international development is more and more quickly.The reasons for the rapid development of cheerleading are various: the competitiveness of cheerleading leads to its evolvement and progress;cheerleading is of huge social value and extensive social adaptability, so it can get extensive support from society;besides, the scientific and healthy system of cheerleading is the main causation for its development. The countermeasures for the development of our cheerleading are:In the aspect of content, we must develop dance and cheerleading, but we should differentiate the stages of their development and give preference to either. At the initial stage, we should favor dance, and then develop cheerleading in proper sequence, and in the end, we should make dance and cheerleading develop harmoniously.In the aspect of development form: we should development commonweal cheerleading as well as non-commonweal cheerleading at the same time, but we should give priority to commonweal cheerleading. To achieve the goals mentioned above, we should: establish associations of cheerleading and exploit sport resources for cheerleading;make schools as the main sites for cheerleading;set up clubs of different levels for commonweal cheerleading;lead the path of internationalization and strengthen the international intercommunion and cooperation.In the aspect of development mechanism: we should exercise appropriate administrative interference into cheerleading in the initial stage of its development;establish competition system for cheerleading and hold all kinds of cheerleading competitions;establish popular sport hierarchical system, and strengthen the propaganda of media.
