The expectation of teacher' s role refers to a kind of supposition of the certain behavior made by teachers who occupeid special status. It contains the image of oneself and the image of the public which diffiered from each other, that is , the role felt by others and the degree of acceptation is also different. It is true that the gap or difference greatly influenced the teacher' s prefessional admitting, achievement and growth. This research origirated from the concern about the teacher' s living condition, their embarrassment and puzzle;also originated from the consideration about the teacher' s characteristics and their development.We investigated the expectation to middle school teachers of four groups in changsha through the questionnaire —teachers managing people, middle school students and their parents. we got the message about the present condition of the expection of middle school teacher and made analysis surrounding the similarity and difference,the results show that:The four groups' expectation of teacher' s role represents various characters, includig the same expectations and different viewpoints, the expectation of group shows the phenomenon of generalization.The focus of the four groups about middle school teacher' s expectation, mainly is "the role and behaviors in class" ,while the expectation of "the role in school" and "the role in society" in relatively weakened.Influenced by changing of society and reformation ofeducation ,the four groups' expectation of teacher' s role is changing in some way, the changes especially appear in the agreements and requirements about specialty of teaching, focus on teaching aim, the orgarization of classroom, the relationship between teachers and students and the criticism about teaching. The four groups are relatively stable about the teacher' characteristics, quality, professional morality and knowledge, hardly influenced by the changes' of society and reformation of education ."Tacher' s responsibility and privilege" in the respectation of teacher' s role became a focus of teachers, school managers, students and their parents;especially concentrated on teacher' s giving up teaching, single-minded working, the viewpoint of profit and the image of model for imitation.The respectation of teacher' s role is influenced by people' s idea of accepting education. In the four groups, the parents' idea about accepting fell behind students, teachers and school managers.The expectation of teacher' s role of students, teachers, parents and school managers are restricted to the present educational evaluing system and model.
