Subjective well-being is a reflection of individual life satisfaction. It is the "barometer" of national governance, which represents the political and social stability."Easterlin paradox" shows that income is not the only influencing factor of subjective well-being.And the degree of income inequality will also reduce subjective well-being of residents.Relative deprivation is the degree of unfairness between individuals and groups, which can be regarded as an objective judgment of the individual's deprivation and poverty. Therefore, there is an intersection between relative deprivation and subjective well-being on welfare economics, which is a combination of income distribution and psychology. It is convenient of using stable objective deprivation to measure the unstable happiness index, and then to provide favorable data support for policy making.Firstly,we review the researches on subjective well-being,relative deprivation and the relationship between them. Then,we analyze the relationship between the relative deprivation and the subjective well-being of residents in China from two aspects: theoretical basis and empirical research. Finally, the research results are summarized and some suggestions are put forward to improve the subjective well-being of residents in China.Specific framework is as the following five aspects:Chapter 1: Introduction. In this part,we first introduce the background of the relative deprivation and subjective well-being,and expound the theoretical and practical significance. Then we summarize the research methods, the research framework and the main content, and draw the technical roadmap. Finally we introduce the main innovation of this research.Chapter 2: Review of the researches on subjective well-being,relative deprivation and the relationship between them.In this part,we first define the concept of subjective well-being and get the changing trend and influencing factors of subjective well-being in China.Secondly, the relative deprivation is introduced, which is mainly focused on two aspects: concept and measurement.Thirdly we review the literature on the relationship between subjective well-being and relative deprivation, and summarize the theoretical and empirical research on the relationship.Chapter 3: The theoretical basis and model construction of income deprivation affecting subjective well-being.This part mainly expounds the theoretical basis and measurement model of the relative deprivation affecting subjective well-being.On the one hand, the concept of "utility" in economics is related to subjective well-being,and the utility function of income deprivation is established through the study of cardinal utility and ordinal utility theory. On the other hand, the basic measurement model and Ordered Probit regression model are constructed.Chapter 4: Empirical Research on the influence of income deprivation on subjective well-being of urban, rural and labor migration residents in China. The empirical data comes from the CHIP2013 database, mainly including three aspects: urban, rural and labor migration.Because of the difference of these three angles, the same parts are classified as general variables in the choice of variables, and the different parts are classified as special variables. Then, the data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and Ordered Probit estimation using STATA tools. Finally,we make a comparative analysis of the empirical results, and make a reasonable explanation.Chapter 5: Conclusions and policy recommendations.Firstly,we summarize the theoretical and empirical research on the influence of relative deprivation on subjective well-being.Then we put forward five policy suggestions to improve the subjective well-being of residents in China: We should improve the system of income distribution and redistribution, improve the education level of residents, pay attention to the health problems of residents, build the atmosphere of social trust, and improve the social welfare and security system.
