| Environmental protection is one of the basic state policies. Environmental education is a topic of heated discussion in 21 century. Environmental education in high schools and elementary schools contributes a lot to the overall environmental education system and lays a good foundation for its sustainable development. By adopting relevant theories and methods of experiment and investigation, the thesis analyzes the status quo of environment education and conducts a study regarding the practice of environmental education among Chinese high school students. It aims for promoting students' environmental protection awareness and practical behaviors, establishing the outlook of sustainable development as well as improving the implementation and reform of the new course standard of biology, thus advancing quality education within the scope of biological research.The thesis consists of four parts:The first part centers on the introduction of environmental education. Its main purpose is to define environmental education and introduce its origin, development, aim, principle and significance.The second part relates to the theoretical foundation, teaching method and approach in senior biology teaching. The theory of sustainable development, constructivism and the other two theories lay afoundation for the thesis. After the analysis of simplicity of teaching methods and passivity of students in the present environmental education, four teaching methods and five practical approaches are proposed. The environmental awareness and protection behavior are supposed to be promoted and the outlook of sustainable development be established among students.The third part provides practical result of environmental education in senior high school. On the basis of the biology textbook—SENIOR BIOLOGY published by People's Education Press, corresponding teaching plans and targets are worked out by means of target delaminating and progressive teaching and are actualized in experimental classes. Final evaluation proves the expectation has been fulfilled.In the fourth part, a conclusion is made and suggestions are put forward. After the launch of environmental education, the comprehensive quality of both students and teachers is improved. The conclusion about environmental education comes from practical research and thus is feasible and effective. |
