University physical optional course is the achievement of reform of national university physical culture that starts from eighties of 20 century. The model of course instruction is warmly welcome by both teachers and students. And many disadvantages were found when students get more familiar with the physical optional area during the reform strengthened, that affect the teaching result directly. Concluding the malpractice of that is some students make their choices fanatically, unilaterally and going with the stream. Moreover, some universities set their optional courses unreasonable. So, it's teachers' responsibilities to train students choose their physical optional courses correctly, and it's also influenced rising teaching quality and reaching the goals of university.This study collected status from Hubei Institute of Education, Hubei Institute of Economy, Central China Normal University, Zhongnan University of Ecnomics and Law, Wuhan Engineering University, Wuhan Institute of Commerce and Trade, Xiaogan Institute. The study also adopting ways of referencing, investigating, data statistics, visiting for analyzing the current university physical teaching cases. Problems and solving countermeasure are discussed in the study.Currently main problems of physical optional courses in the university are: 1. optional contents are old relatively;quantity of the courses is limited. The mainly choices of subjects are still traditional as past, and teaching modal changes could not match students' demands. 2. Many students could not make suitable choice for less understanding of optional courses. 3. The courses could not be taken for limited facilities. 4. Physical optional courses period is short. And the limited time could not provide good foundation to a student's physical exercises. 5. There is not high enthusiasm from students for teacher's own physical technology abilities.The countermeasure made upon the above problems in this study: 1. speeding up construction of physical yard and facilities, especially for latest sports items, and fully utilization of current physical resources should also be conducted. 2. drumbeating optional courses advantages to all students with ways of scientificalness and logicalness, let students make right choices. 3. strengthening the communication between all physical teachers from various universities, getting more courses for choose. 4. reforming the period of optional courses, such as expand the course length from grade 1 and grade 2 to grade 3 or 4.
