In2004, general high school history classes have under taken a new change. The crucialchange is characterized as reasonable system in choosing the optional classes under this newpolicy. Under this new policy, not only providing students a large selection of courses, butalso promoting students’ overall academic performances. However, approaching to thesuccess of new policy, there are some obvious problems also come along with it, such as howto set up history optional classes, education training, and in order to make required andoptional classes as a whole, and so forth.In sum, we are using Shenyang No.40high school as the research target, and examiningtheir current history optional classes’ condition. After the investigation, we have encounteredwith some prevalent problems among current history optional classes, and then respondingwith solutions. The article mainly discuss the following four parts:First, we discuss the history optional classes’ ideals and set up the history optional classes’practical significance.Second, with No.40high school in Shenyang as an example, we survey and interview withteachers’ current situation and students’ learning situation of the history optional classes.Third, according to the survey result, we have in-depth analysis of the history optionalcourse’s current situation, reveal that it’s very important to handle correctly the relationshipbetween the history optional courses and required courses, and discuss several factors ofaffecting the history optional course setting.Finally, in view of the problems in the investigation, I attempt to put forward somesuggestions and strategies to the implementation of the ordinary high school history coursesfrom teaching materials, teaching methods, teaching evaluation and learning beliefs, and soon.
