This thesis aims at discussing the students' cultural constructionin the teaching of Chinese reading and its cultural value's connotation,aim, choice, and realization, including the essence, characteristics,approach and condition of its realization. The cultural value of Chinesereading teaching lies in that the of cognitive, moral, and aesthetic valueof the teaching of Chinese reading meet the aspiration of the studentsin pursuit of the true, the good and the beautiful, and thus help themto be versatile persons. This thesis consists of three parts.The first part deals with the cultural value study of the teachingof Chinese reading. First of all, it elucidates the essential connotationof "cultural value". After establishing the theories about therelationship of man and culture, this study opens up a new understandingof cultural value—"humanization" and thus interprets its essence.Secondly, the part gives a clear explanation of the cultural value ofeducation. As the media between man and cultural activities, the valueis mainly cultural. The primary education is the basis of the formationof one's values and "moral education" is the essence of the culturalvalue of Chinese education. Finally, on the basis of a completetheoretical, structural and functional interpretation of the teaching ofChinese reading, this part specifies the cultural value's connotationof Chinese reading teaching.The second part discusses the cultural value's tropism of theteaching of Chinese reading. For one thing, this part makes an integralanalysis of the aims of moral education, intellectual education, andaesthetic education of the process in Criteria for Chinese Course, andit reveals the cultural value's central idea—the students' principlestatus by paying more attention to the students' personality developmentand their experience through interlocution as the main way of itsrealization. For another, this part interprets the choice of culturalvalue as for the content of Chinese reading teaching—to carry forwardour nation's traditional culture and have a complete understanding theidea of multi-culture through selecting the essence of foreign culture.The last part talks about the cultural value's realization in theteaching of Chinese reading from four aspects. The first is to reveal thesignificance of this realization. The process of the teaching of readingis a process of encounter, communication, interaction and amalgamation.The essence of the teaching of Chinese reading lies in the centralizationof the objects and the realization of their potential abilities. Thesecond point explores the characteristics of the cultural value'srealization in teaching Chinese reading, mainly including the integrity,the principle position of the students, and the differences. The thirdtalks about the ways of the realization mainly form the teaching in classand the out-of-class activities. The former pays more attention to thepractice of teaching of reading and the later lays more emphasis on activereading. The fourth discusses the condition for the realization throughfour aspects: the object's cultural particularity, the subject'scultural creativity, the value media's radiation feature, and themulti-characteristics in evaluation.
