Task-based approach has been adopted since 1980 ' s, and it has also the approach recommended to be applied in junior schools by China ' s ministry of Education At first , Praubhu put it into the practice of English teaching , and formed task -- based approach . Improved by cognitive theories, it became a comprehensive approach with the merit of both structural and communicative approach. In task --based approach, teaching in classroom is mainly organized through tasks , and then learning about language is also driven by tasks . At the same time , many other factors are considered , such as emotion , cognitive ability, etc.This thesis reviews several definitions by a few linguistics; the differences between task and practice; the difficulties of the task; the contents of the task; the principles of the task. Etc This thesis is mainly geared to the needs of junior students. It uses questionnaire, investigation and data analysis to study the practical application of English learning in order to analyze existing problems then put forward some countermeasure. This thesis attempts to discuss and solve some practical problems in English teaching and learning. According to Willis's the principles and models in task ---based approach, suggesting 3 steps: in English teaching. That is, preparation before task; implement action of task; summary after task and language focus . Before task, the knowledge about language should be prepared as well as the contents of the task. During task. the teacher supervises and urges learners to finish the task. In language focus, learners practice and consolidate the language, which have appeared in the task.Meanwhile in task--based approach, the relationship has greatly changed. Learners are the masters of their learning, while the teacher is a helper, a tutor, who can and only can create an appropriate condition for language learning. Meanwhile, learners motivation and interest are stimulated, and the cognitive ability is developed. All this will be the real wealth for their further development.According to the discussion, the thesis gives a model of task-based approach implantation in Junior middle school. During the process of practice the task-based approach, we should obey the training rules, steps and pay attention to a series of practical problems. Making the students and the teachers learn to choose valid learning approach in their language learning is very important. It's better way to achieve the real value of education.
