Form the view of sociology, this paper gives the definition and essentialmeaning of social capital with the combination of the achievement of the overseasand domestic researchers. The author gives the definition and the essence of socialcapital from the point of Chinese Culture. Based on the theory, this paper creates a new concept in the field of education,which is called "Social Capital of Headmaster". The author sums up the meaning,and also explains the forming of it and how to measure it.The paper emphasizes on the development of a primary school which within thetime of the headmaster of being Z, analyze the case with the method of qualitativeresearch. Form describing a few of the key events in the development of the school,it inquires into the relationship between Social Capital of the Headmaster and thedevelopment of the school, analyses the crucial question of the Social Capital ofHeadmaster and its influence on the development of the school. Finally the authordraws the conclusion: Social Capital of the headmaster deeply affects thedevelopment of the school.The cognition and conclusion of it maybe not universal, In fact, "universaltheory" in education is meaningless. So, the author does not extravagantly hopes allthe scholars and experts recognize it, but more and more people can pay moreattention to the Social Capital in the field of education.The paper is divided into four parts. The first part is an introduction, which hascarried on the simple introduction to the research background, the research techniqueand the process of the paper. The second part contains the summary of the socialcapital theory and the correlation question research. The third part is main body ofthe paper— case study on the influence of the Headmaster to the development of theschool from the view of social capital. The fourth part is the conclusion and thereflection.
