The new mathematics curriculum reform has been implemented for five yearssince the appearance of the Mathematics Curriculum Standard for compulsory educationin 2001. The new reform puts forward new concepts and requirements from manyperspectives, such as, curriculum goal, the curriculum content, the teaching ways and soon.Those new concepts and requirements will certainly bring out great changes oncompilation, selection and using of textbooks. This reform makes great achievements,but at the same time we cannot neglect the problems existed. Such as the teachingmaterials selection and using in blindness, waste on the development and use ofteaching materials, the extensive teaching contents. These phenomena directly affect thestudents' learning. Well the teachings misunderstanding on the Standard causes thosephenomena. Therefore, if the teachers want to explore the resources in teachingmaterials, to develop students' mathematics qualities, they first should givecomprehensive understanding to Standard.This research takes the Standard as the starting point. First, it makes a comparativeanalysis between the syllabus and the Standard. Combining with the present compulsorytextbooks, this paper takes a further study on the curriculum contents and teachingpractice of the third term in the Standard. At the same time, the paper proposescorresponding teaching strategies, which stress on the relations within mathematics,between mathematics and other subjects, mathematics and life. The paper mainly adoptscomparative analysis and documentation method.In my opinion, an overall and deep understanding on the Standard is the key to theMathematics curriculum reform and mathematics teaching. Only if the teachers have asufficient understanding on the requirement on curriculum contents and teaching in theStandard, can they explore teaching resources and develop students in an all-round way.
