At present mathematics center of gravity of new course target has already on the development of urge the student put, how handle the relation between good mathematics and student mental state, let student the comprehension mathematics seems to be the very importance. Understanding plays an important role in the process of mathematics learning. Moreover ,the hindrance of mathematical understanding is also one kind of important hindrance of mathematics learning . This thesis intends to study mechanism, cause of formation and methods to overcoming mathematical understanding hindrance from the viewpoint of mathematical education and psychology.Firstly, this text is from the angle of mathematics teaching and learning, making the define to" mathematical understanding ", pointing out the connotation of mathematical understanding " and" mathematical understanding hindrance". Moreover, six factors which composed of the mathematical understanding, mechanism of mathematical understanding hindrance from the angle of psychological process of understanding were put forward , analyzed and researched.Secondly, in order to investigate the students' mathematical understanding hindrance in algebra, the researcher made some investigations and testing in two grades and deeply analyzed the results of them, by testing ,we found that there are three layers in the students' mathematical understanding. The relationships among hindrances of mathematical understanding, the influence of mathematical understanding hindrance on mathematics learning were also discussed.Finally, the researcher suggested some teaching measures of getting over the hindrance of mathematical understanding about junior middle school students based on the teaching practice in the algebra.
