The Attempt On Offering Communication Technology Course In Middle School

The rapid development of modern science and technology challenges the education of schools. The contents of the present curricula can't reflect the latest scientific achievement. The construction of the curricula lacks variety, neglecting the all-round development as well as personal development of students. The trend of the physics course in senior middle school is as follow: 1.emphasize the role the physics course plays in students' personal development in various ways. 2.offer a variety of physics courses such as required, optional courses and activities.The project is based on the trend of the reform of the physics course in senior middle school and meant to motivate the students to appreciate the scientific spirit, methods and thoughts of scientists hidden in the scientific research and understand the role physics plays in the development of technology and social progress and broaden their mind, aiming at improving their outlook on science and their ability to work in scientific ways.As an attempt, I gave the course of in communication technology to Senior 2 students. The course includes the following: 1.the history of modern communication 2.wireless communication 3.the theory of the transformation between analog and digital signals 4.the discovery of laser and its law 5.the optional fiber communication technology. Students took the course, learning by experimenting, attending lectures and teaching themselves. The results of the attempt show that teachers can offer various optional courses based on the latest scientific achievements and curricula and the conditions of a school. In this way, students' mind will be broadened, their needs to learn about the latest science and technology will be met. Besides, students are motivated to love science, develop a positive attitude towards science and improve themselves in science. This practice can be of great help for the present schooling.
