Higher education is a social activity aimed at fostering advanced talents, which is the basic function and task. The model of cultivation serves fostering talents directly and is the medium between fostering theory and practice. The new ideas, practices and their mutual transformation in higher education depend on the construction and development of new modal of cultivation. The modal of cultivation is an unavoidable old topic in higher education theory and practice but quite difficult to be made clear. In these days when knowledge-based economy appears, knowledge and talents are playing more and more important role in social development. It is an inevitable trend that knowledge is shared by the international community and talents move across the world. In the internationalization background, it is an urgent task to reform the modal of cultivation and internationalize it. Fostering talents is a systematic program which is concerned with many aspects of teaching but modal is a concision, generalization and abstraction of concrete practice. The model of cultivation relates to factors, process, procedures and their relation. The thesis tries to understand the factors, process, procedures and their relation in the perspective of system theory and realize the concision, generalization and abstraction of fostering talents in the perspective of model theory so that the meaning of modal of cultivation can be explained, the general model can be constructed, structures can be described and the factors and their relations are analyzed. All of these are a good theory foundation to vivid practice. Internationalization is the inevitable result of marketization and modernization and the same goes to higher education and its model of cultivation. After analyzing the existing viewpoints, the thesis concludes that higher education internalization is a maximum relocation of higher education materials, which is the combination of process and outcome and is also concerned with all aspects of fostering talents. In terms of internationalization of modal of cultivation, concept of internationalization is the root, social needs are the orientation, internationalization of fostering goal is the location, modern college institution is the guarantee and fostering process is the core. Based on the theory of model of cultivation, the thesis takes Industrial Engineering department in HUST as an example and analyses the concrete modal of cultivation. It generalizes the experience, points out the shortcomings and testifies the interaction between theory and practice, which provides reference for internationalization of modal of cultivation.
