Motivation for college faculty is an ever-lasting subject as its level will directly affect the efficiency of the faculty and furthermore the quality of the whole higher education. Therefore, the academia and the college superintendents have been paying close attention to the research of this subject.There have been large amount of accomplishment on this research, which offers necessary reference for the enforcement of the motivating instruction. But as the competition between the colleges has become more and more severe, some other conditions and problems have emerged and brought to further demand for the theoretical studies. Thus we should widen our views and broaden our mind to achieve some innovation.The system of motivation for college faculty is one of the core of modern university system. How to acquire the maximize effect of motivation for college faculty is the problem that had to consider in the arrangement of modern university system. What high school make use of the various motivation policies is all likely to be valid, but it maybe is not the most valid. To raise the efficiency of motivation for college faculty or make the maximize effect of motivation for college faculty have to point out the motivation essence, inquiry into an incentive occurrence mechanism and look for the general regulation for college faculty.Motivation theories is more mature, but contingency theories is more novel. Motivation theories or contingency theories deserves us to learn. The motivation theory will be the theoretical basis of motivation for college faculty;the contingency theory will be the analytical tool for promoting the efficiency of the motivating instruction.The thesis consists of five parts. In the introduction the aiming orientation will be generated—this subject should be approached from certain height as its meaning is more we have recognized;what's more, the theoretical basis and the mode of research will also be introduced;The second part will mainly focus on the origin points of the motivating instruction for college faculty, such as the characteristics of the college faculty, their characteristic on work and their potential exploitation;The third part will mainly focus on the present condition analysis on the motivation for college faculty, Summary the existent key problem about the motivation for college faculty andanalyze these main reasons of problem. The fourth part will be devoted to the discussion of motivating instructions, including demand motivation instruction, objective motivation instruction, and rewards and punishment motivation instruction;The fifth part will be the contingency analysis on the motivation for college faculty, in which the reasons for choice of analytical tool and the contingency variable and its matching relationship of the motivation will be analyzed respectively. There will also be contingency analysis on the performance assess, the confer of the titles and the salary distribution.
