As a long and brilliant historical nation, France has an age-old tradition on normal education. From the first modern organization of normal education in the world established in 1684 to the IUFM founded in 1980s, French normal education has its own distinctive qualities. This thesis tries to research the development process of French normal education in the hope of bringing to light the development features of French normal education and concluding the achievement and existing problems, which would provide lessons to found Chinese characteristic system of modern normal education and developing Chinese normal educational undertakings.This thesis includes four parts except preface and conclusion.Part One (from the end of 17th Century to the beginning of 20th Century): The Establishment of French Normal Education. French normal education originated before bourgeois revolution of 1789, and shaped a set of intact regulations of normal education at the beginning of 20 Century.Part Two (from the beginning of 20th Century to the beginning of 1980s): The Improvement of French Normal Education. For the training teachers of elementary education, France carried out five great reforms. And for the training teachers of secondary education, it developed a set of regulations featured by combining college and special agency—college was leading, integrating academic education and vocational training—undertook separately and chronologically.Part Three (from the ending of 1980s to now): The Further Improvement of French Normal Education. In 1989 France issued loi d' orientation sur 1' education, and put forward to found IUFM. Therefore French normal education further developed, manifested by unitary single-track normal educational system, flexible and distinguishing curriculum arrangement and teacher in-service training conducted by the thought of lifelong education.Part Four The Achievement and Existing Problems of French Normal Education: On the basic of the historical development of French normal education, concludes the achievement and existing problems it has and provides lessons to the reform and development of Chinese normal education.
