Since reformation and opening up, Civilian-run higher schools in our nation have been greatly developed, display diversity and imbalance characteristic,whereas they are also confronting lots of crisis and challenges. Through theoretical research and experimental analysis, it can be concluded that there are four kinds of crucial crisis plaguing Civilian-run higher schools,which come respectively from sources of students,funds,faculty and employment. These four sorts of crisis are not isolated from each other,but integrated together and act in mutual influence, so as to push Civilian-run higher schools into the edge of crisis.The crisis originate from different aspects, in wich imperfect policy and regulations, defective management system, social discrimination and prejudice make up external cause;ln the point of the Civilian-run higher schools, the main cause of the crisis can be concluded that the schools run without sound financing system, standard inside management and scientific ideas of school-operating.Private schools in the U.S.A and Japan have accumulated plentiful experience.in crisis management, concluding consummate laws and regulations,sound management system,strict quality control and pluralistic forms of financing channel. Thus we can learn a lot from them.So what should the trapped Civilian-run higher schools do to survive such a difficult position? Firstly, in the process of managing crisis, they should abide by the basic principle of "Prevention first, Student-oriented and Teaching prior"; And secondly, crisis management system, wich composed of crisis prevention, crisis handling, and crisis summary, should be set up; Finally, specific measures should be formulated and implemented in order to strengthen the inside management, widen the channels of financing and improve the quality of school-running.
