The strategic level of learning is an important dimension in measuring an individual's learning capability, and also one of critical factors that restricts learning effects. Psychological studies indicate that, learning strategy can be mastered and taught. It serves as a symbol that identifies whether an individual is capable of learning or not, as an important dimension that measures personal learning capability, and as one of critical factors that determines learning effects. In the meantime, whether an individual masters learning skills is also one of the life-long learning objectives. Concerns are given to the level of learning strategy under long-distance education environment, and teaching is designed starting from the learning characteristics of students, thus the aim is achieved: the learning ability of students is nurtured, learning quality improved, and teaching initiative smoothly implemented. By way of measuring learning strategy, the learning characteristics of a learner can be found out, based on which teaching is designed, the learning capability of a learner is nurtured, and learning quality is improved, so as to ensure the smooth implementation of long-distance teaching and learning.Nevertheless, the profile specifically dedicated to the analysis of long-distance learning strategy is not yet available in China. Therefore, how to scientifically and effectively establish the profile used for the analysis of long-distance learning strategy has become an essential subject to be addressed in the field of long-distance education. In view of this issue, the researcher spent one and a half years and worked out a set of profile of long-distance learning strategy by means of a great deal of preparatory studies, repeated forecasts, modification, measurement and statistical analysis. In order to allow thinking over the learning strategy closely correlated with distance learning in an all-round way, the research has done a great many preparatory studies such as early stage survey and research. Among them are references search, interview with experts and long-distance students, comparison and research of related profiles, and the like. From the survey and research of the profile of learning strategy, the researcher finds that "Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI)" is the generally accepted profile of learning strategy in the current international community. The measuring dimensions of LASSI and the meaning of each such dimension play a significant enlightening role with respect to dividing of long-distance learning strategy. As such, this research compares and conducts related studies for LASSI and the proposed learning strategy factors, and has obtained first-hand data by way of references search and interview with experts and long-distance students, in an effort to further improving survey work and justify the theoretical blueprint.
