To implement quality education which emphasizes on cultivating the students' creativities and practice abilities, the key way is to change the teacher's teaching mode and the student's learning method. As a required course, inquiry learning has been listed in the New Curriculum Planning, which helps to improve the students' learning methods by providing open environment and the multi-channels to obtain knowledge and the opportunity of putting the knowledge into practice.In this paper, the inquiry learning in high school thought political lesson is analyzed and expounded by presenting its signification, objective, characteristics, functions, principles, curriculum practice and some questions worthy paid attention to etc.. In addition, the basic model of it has been shaped by continuous experiments. What's more, when putting it into practice, teachers need to deal with different relationships, such as the relationship between the teachers and the students, the traditional teaching methods and the multi-media technology employed in teaching.The paper signifies that the inquiry learning method used in high school thought political lesson is not only the demand of social development and high school educational reform development, but also the requirement of development of high school thought political lesson reform and the students' self-development.
