The essay analyses the National Matriculation Entrance Test (NMET) paper since 1978 in several aspects, such as the form of proposing the math test, the function of the style of items, and the developing of proposing the math test, at the same time, the author came up with some reasonable suggestions for teaching reform, according to math teaching practice .The essay includes, as follow:First, the understanding to NMET is mentioned meanwhile the author put forward the purpose and significance of the subject. Second, dissertate the developing process of NMET since 1978 in several angles: the significance of resuming NMET, the change in items and character and function of the standard test paper.Third, analyze the math test paper (NMET) from the angle of style of items. Mainly the advantages and disadvantages of the style of item are discussed.(Multiple-choice, blank-filling and answer the questions).Besides, the author collects the statistics to show the ratio in the style of items between 1983 and 2003,lists the ways that are effective to test and the ways that are not. What's more, from the angles of subject, the author analyses the ratio of each style of items, and gets the tendency of proposition of math test (NMET) in 2003 according to the unintelligent factors, so she draws a conclusion that the paper is quite difficult, on the other hand it can test the students'psychological ability to endure failure, which manifests how to test the students'psychological ability in math test.Fourth, according to the research as mentioned, the tendency of NMET in future is discussed; meanwhile, the author put forward five pieces ofpracticable advice. The advice as follow: 1.emphasising the base; 2.developing students'ability in math, improving their awareness to create and ability to practice ; 3.lay stress on teaching quality; 4.advocating students to study actively, creating a kind of atmosphere where students study actively and cooperate and communicate with one another; 5.strengthening the train in psychology.The reformation of NMET can promote the course reform of the middle school, and this is suitable for the trend of math teaching reform. In the later years, teachers should show the conception of reform in college entrance examination and the teaching based on the students to promote the development of students.
