A Research On The Relation Among Freshman' Communication Apprehension, Social Support, Self-concept, Coping Style

Communication apprehension is an individual's level of fear or anxiety associated with either real or anticipated communication with another person or persons. During the transition from high school to university that is a important period, freshman be confronted with fire-new world, the problem of interpersonal communication is becoming a crucial issue in adaption to new circumstances of freshman, communication anxiety or comprehension of the freshman became a serous mental problem, many research has indicated that we should pay attention tothe freshman' mental health, especially interpersonal communication matter. Occurrence of mmunication apprehension was increasing in freshman, which affect their learn and life and wilder their intercourse. The present research bases on the studying in the past of communication apprenhension and aims to inquire into the characteristics of the communication apprehension of Gui Zhou province' freshman and also study the the relation of communication apprehension, social support, self-concept, coping styles and try to build the interactional model of communication apprehension, social support, self-concept, coping styles. This study will offer help to alleviate communication apprehension of freshman and improve their communication ability. The research result is as follows:1. The research shows that there exists gender difference in freshman' communication apprehension there exists significant gender differences in freshman' communication apprehension. There is no difference between students came from city and students came from country in communication apprehension, but the communication apprehension of freshman came from county is higher than that of freshman came from city in dyads, there exists no significant difference in the communication apprehension of different majors . There is no difference between freshman' communication apprehension of the Han nationality and that of minority. The education level of mother has main effect on freshman' communication apprehension, the communication apprehension of freshman whose mother' education level is below junior high school is higher than that of freshman whose mother' education level is either senior high school or univesity.
