To understand the current state of knowledge, attitudes and practice about sex among undergraduates in Xinjiang, and to provide scientific evidences for Xinjiang educational department to constitute and carry out sexuality health education program on undergraduates. Methods By way of multistage sampling, an anonymous investigation was carried out for 5110 undergraduates from seven colleges and universities in Xinjiang. To assess the relation of factors and premarital sexual behavior by no-conditional Logistic regression. Results The awareness rate on sexual was low among undergraduates of Xinjiang, male undergraduates' awareness rate is better than that of female undergraduates. Hans better than Uygur and Other nationalities. 78.2% of undergraduates hold attitudes of comprehensible and acceptance to the premarital sexual behavior. 17.3% of undergraduates had premarital sexual behavior in Xinjiang,18.6% of Hans,14.7% of Uygur,18.6% of other nationalities undergraduates had premarital sexual behavior, 24.0% of Hans male, 12.6% of Hans female,28.5% of Uygur male,4.0% of Uygur female. The result of Logistic regression shows the effect factors of premarital sexual behavior are whether had love affairs, intimacy behaviors, the attitudes to the premarital sexual behavior etc. Conclusion The health education on sexual must strengthened among undergraduates of Xinjiang, and the cultural background of undergraduates of different nationalities should be fully considered, takes the effective intervention measure.
