Elaboration strategies have been a new research field in cognitive strategies of information processing psychology for over 20 years. During the early reading activities in kindergarten, using some elaborateion strategies according to the theory of information processing psychology not only benefits children's conscious attention and memory, help them to discover the internal relationship among knowledge and to establish the connection between them, but also benefits children's reading interests, assist them to foster good reading habit and train them to have some reading skills.This thesis has 3 parts. The research methods of this thesis are literature search, action research and educational experiences summary etc.Part â…  explains the reasons why I choose this subject as my research focus. I clarify the necessity and the significance of this research though illustrating the early reading situation in kindergarten.Part â…¡ discusses the background of this research. It introduces the current research achievements and makes commentary on them. It introduces the theory foundation of this research, i.e., information processing psychology with its cognitive strategies and elaboration strategies. The key point of view, content and characteristics have been discussed.Part â…¢ argues the application of elaboration strategies in early reading in kindergarten. It argues how to use elaboration strategies to improve the quality of reading materials, how to use associating strategies and emerging strategies to help children read and comprehension, to create diverse reading methods.
