This thesis explores and discusses some basic problems of applying problem solving based instructional method (PSBI) to the information technology curriculum in senior high schools. It mainly consists of three major parts below:1. Theoretical parsing (Chapter two and chapter three). This part summarizes some basic theories and research findings of problem solving in psychology, introduce some basic knowledge of PSBI, analyzes conditions for application and limitation of PSBI, and discusses the importance of PSBI to the information technology curriculum in senior high schools. This part is the basis and foundation of method construction;2. Method elaboration (Chapter four). This part explores how to apply PSBI to the information technology curriculum in senior high schools concretely. It mainly aims at studying two issues, namely, how to choose suitable content for PSBI and how to design problem solving based information technology instruction, the latter of which includes designs of problem solving template, problem scenario, instructional process, and so on;3. Analysis and evaluation (Chapter five). Based on trying out teaching plans in the practice, this part analyzes various feedbacks from experts, teachers and students and, further, gives evaluation and explanation on the method elaborated in the second part.Main viewpoints of this research and the work it does include:1. Introducing PSBI in aspects of concept, model, and characteristic. And pointing out aspects that must be considered when applying PSBI to the information technology curriculum in senior high schools, including the limitation of the instructional method itself, instructional facts such as classroom hour and teachers' and students' capability, and the particularity of the information technology curriculum;2.
