The science textbook Science World 9 of the New Zealand faces to the 13-year old students of grade 9 and is written by Pam Hook, Peter Stannard and so on. It is based on the science curriculum standard of the New Zealand {the Science in the New Zealand Curriculum) which requests the students attain the fifth grade of the target of the science curriculum standard through their study.The thesis has thoroughly analyzed the textbook Science World 9 with the present condition of science education in the New Zealand and our country for b ackground and according to the comprehensive curriculum theories, the constructivism about study theories and the contemporary science education theories. Besides, the thesis stresses on the chemical part of the textbook Science World 9 and carries theoretical research and experimental research on it. Through the research, the researcher has gotten some conclusions as following:(1)The textbook establishes various plates and columns following study regulation and mental characteristics of the students. This manner promotes the study and develops the students' ability;(2)The textbook not only pay attention to the foundation of the contents, but also emphasize the vivid living breathing of the contents;(3)Throughout the textbook there is an emphasis on the development of science attitudes and thinking through the experiments, it also gives enough attention to the developing of the students' science skill;(4)The textbook adopts various ways for presentation to make the page become rich and colorful, it stirs up the students' interest of study and guides their study.Though the research, the researcher also discovers that Science World 9 exists some places needed to be improved. First, there is so many different types of pictures, some pictures can't promote the study of the students, some pictures are put together for good nothing, they are abused; Secondly, whether the systematical description of the science concept and principle can be accepted by the students is worthy of conferment.In addition, on the foundation of the experimental research, the researcher has improved two experiments in the textbook. Besides, the researcher has designed.three experiments for the students, they are the facture of the crystal model for NaCl, the measurement of energy in the food, the measurement of velocity when zincs reacts with sulfuric acid."The stones of other hills, can offend the jade." The researcher expects that the conclusions and suggestions which come from the research of the science textbook Science World 9 for middle school of the New Zealand can provide some help and guidance for the writing of the science textbook of our country.
