WuHua academy of classical learning, a typical local one, plays an important part in Yun Nan, China. This paper focuses on a case study of its historical significance to the modern education based on a great deal of reference. What was its long history? What are the enlightment it shed to the modern middle school Chinese teaching in the aspect of teaching methodologies and construction?As for the general outlook of WuHua academy of classical learning, based on the historical records, the origin, features, historical roles, location, book collection and expenses resources of the academy would be introduced.Speaking of education, the aim here was to cultivate talents for the ruling class, while usher in an educational style of YunNan that were both under the imperial examination system. The way of teaching also diversified careful-introduction of the importance and way of reading, pay attention to exams, advocate asking questions, acknowledge, experience and take actions etc. The teaching process also followed this way of knowledge: carefully read ---ponder-doubt-inquire-be explained. All of these just show the limitation and shortcomings in the WuHua academy due to imperial examination system, they are the mismatch of the content and methods of education and incompleteness of their knowledge structure, which can surly shed light on our modern Chinese teaching: teaching should be based on the fact that learners must be clear about their purpose of learning, then we can teach them how to learn. What's more, teachers should direct students to know correctly and take good advantage of exams, encouraging them to doubt and strengthen the interaction between them; reduce the moral education in process and take a cooperative way of teaching.Additionally, WuHua academy thinks highly of the style of study construction. They advocate diligence, moral integrity, creation, take in everything. In their academy, teachers have high quality and graceful actions .So there was a harmonious relationship between teachers and learners.
