The Study Of The Integration Of Language Goals And Cultural Awareness Goals In The Textbook Of New Program

"The criteria of English curriculum"was published by Ministry of Education in July,2001 in China, which formulates the total target of the English teaching during the elementary education----train the students'ability of the comprehensive using about the language. The form of this kind of ability is based on the development of the linguistic skills , linguistic knowledge , emotional attitude , cultural awareness and learning strategy. Linguistic knowledge and linguistic skills are the foundation of the comprehensive linguistic using; cultural awareness is the pledge of it . The study of the integration of language goals and cultural awareness goals in the textbook of new program talk about the what the culture is and the relationship of the language and the culture, the differences of them. And it also talks about the importance of it according to transfer theory and schemata theory . And it analyzes the contents of the cultural awareness teaching in junior English texts and some problems .Then it refers the direction of integration is that we should face all of the students and found the basis of the all-round students ;advocate this kind of"task"; widen the communication of students study and using ; develop the cultural views of students and develop their cross-cultural awareness abilities ,We'll make students study through the colorful activities .The writer specifically introduces the precedents of integration of language goals and cultural awareness goals and make the outline of this topic. The aim of cultural teaching is to develop the cross-cultural awareness and cross-cultural communicative competence of the students by teaching the cultural specifically and then we can get to the ideal realm of cross-cultural communication. It means people can have the same feelings of culture as the other side by thinking of others. We design new textbook on the basis of new program and add some contents about the cultural awareness . We give the first place to behavioral culture and pay more attention to the auxiliary function of achievement of accomplishment culture. By having the test , we improve the study ability of students .This dissertation summarizes some experience and inspiration on the integration of language goals and cultural awareness goals in the new text. Hope to have an effect to the reform and development of the English teaching by analyzing this dissertation.
