In Shanghai, as the release of new edition , teacher' s comments towards students in student record book developed from "moral comments" to "student comprehensive diathesis comments" and further to "student development comprehensive comments" . It shows that education in the new period pays more attention to the evaluation of individual student' s development.In this article, the author carried out his primary research about "student development comprehensive comments" through various methods, such as sample analysis, questionnaires, etc. The author got 200 comment sample copies. Meanwhile, questionnaires were sent out to teachers, students as well as student parents. In all, sample analysis and primary research were conducted from different angles in this article. Through analyzing the samples and questionnaires, the conclusions are summed up as follows:1. Among the 200 copies of sample comments, the ratio of encouraging words and spurring words is about 3:1. 92% and 96% students approve that comments play an important role for their self-development and teachers' encouragement and expectation towards their ongoing efforts respectively.2. In sample comments, the comments ratio that describing student individual development and study situations is 5:2. The teacher in charge of the class pays more attention to the comprehensive comments of students' multi-character development.3. There are some relations in each sample comment and student' s comments from previous terms, which shows attention towards students' development.4. In particular, among the three sample teacher' s comments, the most frequent used comment ratios are quite different. Therefore, different teachers' comment style has huge influence on comments.5. In sample comments, the appearance of similar comment word quota among certain comment ratio is basically below 15%. 92% student parents and 93% students have the attitude of "satisfying" or "nearly satisfying" towards comments. 99% students think teachers' personalized comments could or might encourage them to move forward.
