The thesis makes two exemplary high schools of Xingtai county, Hebei province subjects of survey. Through questionnaire, inquiry and talk, observation, documents retrieving. We made a survey on the current situations in history teaching, discovered problems and offered some strategies that are theoretical and practical so that many more history teachers can learn and improve their teaching methods and teaching level. This thesis falls on three parts. The first part is quotation. It generally narrates its background, purpose, methods and significance. Also it introduces the basic conditions of these two schools. The second part is putting forward problems, through which it analyses schools, teachers, textbooks, and teaching assessment. It dwells on the underlying problems that have existed in history teaching. Through investigation we discovered the following problems: First, high schools don't attach great importance to this subject, so there aren't many necessary history-related books in school library to learn by themselves. Second, teachers with lower educational background can't adapt to the synthetically-art subject in National Entrance Examination (NEE) in a short time. Third, students still take no interest in history class and they strongly expressed their dissatisfaction with textbooks. Another point is students can hardly gain interest from learning owing to the poorly-compiled textbooks.
