According to the syllabuses for Senior English (first edition). Senior English for China (SEFC1993 for short) was published in 1993 by People's Education Press in cooperation with Longman Press. As time advances, Senior English for China is revised on the basis of SEFC1993 and published in 2003(SEFC2003 for short), which is founded upon The Syllabuses for Senior English (revised edition) and The English Standards in Compulsory Education with full-time school for Senior High School (experimental draft). The developments in the SEFC2003 have such an impact on teachers that they encounter the problem of how they can keep up with the developments in SEFC2003.In the first place, the author conducts the survey of the evaluation of the SEFC2003 among forty teachers at twelve high schools in Beijing to learn teachers' attitudes towards SEFC2003 and find out whether they have problems when using SEFC2003 by distributing questionnaires. After summarizing the results of the survey, the author finds out that teachers do have problems when using it. Then the author further examines how the problems are caused through analyzing the results of the questionnaires. In order to make the research more persuasive, the author carries out the contrastive analysis of SEFC1993 and SEFC2003 to reveal the developments in SEFC2003 upon the theories about second language teaching and learning. Finally, the author examines the questions on how teachers can keep up with the new developments and teach English by properly using the textbooks and puts forward some constructivesuggestions concerning it.
