Work values is relatively enduring characteristic of an individual that distinguishes him/her from others. It is a mixture of personal experiences and cultural backgrounds. Since it is an important social psychological factor, lots of existent researchs have indicated its significant influences on individual's incentive, attitude, satisfaction and performances. This study is aimed at exploring the structure of college teachers' work values and the relationship between work values and some relevant demographic variables, as well as the relationship between work values and the other factors, such as organizational commitment, job satisfaction, performance and turnover intention.This study is divided into three parts: the first part analyzed the structure of college teachers' work values and established the work values scales based on the sample from several colleges. The results indicated that the structure of college teachers' work values could be described as a two level model. The macro-level consists of self-development, security, economic return, self-actualization and independence; and the micro-level consists of social recognition, surroundings, altruism, organizational harmony and equity. The result of data analysis showed that the scales of work values functioned with good reliability and validity.The second part of this study discussed the relationship between the college teachers' work values and demographic variables. We found that the demographic variables had no significant influences on the macro-level of college teachers' work values, which implied the psychological stability of the teaching profession; No aspect of the work values was influenced by the gender factor; We also found that age, title and college type had influences on self-development, economic return and security.The third part explored the relationship between the college teachers' work values and organizational commitment, job satisfaction, performance and turnover intention.
