A Study On Mental Growth Of University Psychological Counselor

Mental growth is the process of personal growth and development in mentality. As for a psychological counselor, mental growth includes, in detail, perfection of personality, enhancement in self-acceptance and self-awareness, completion of personal affairs, belief and understanding of human nature, attitudes towards the depletion of profession, improvements in professional ethics and so on. Mental growth is the core of personal growth of a psychological counselor and is also a key factor to the effects of psychological counseling. As for the university psychological counselors, Mental growth represents a vital issue which can never be neglected. Psychological damages, both from and to the client, together with depletion of profession, represent the immaturity of a counselor.Literature search and theoretical explorations have been made on mental growth itself and the relevant theories and ideas. Based on this, a survey has been conducted on both full-time and part-time university psychological counselors, with special questionnaires assigned them so as for us to find out the psychological status, as well as the way it develops through, of university psychological counselors. In-depth visits have been made to three counselors with human-centered tropism, with the purpose of a deeper insight into the desire, the content and the way of their mental growth, as well as solutions to problems.As has been shown by the research, mental growth of university psychological counselors works not only in facilitating the personal growth of counselors but also in ensuring the results of counseling work. Enhancement in self-acceptance and self-awareness, completion of personal affairs, belief and understanding of human nature, attitudes towards the depletion of profession, together constitute the internal tactics of mental growth., with special training , counseling supervision are the important social tactics.
