Developing students' abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing is the main purpose of Chinese teaching. However, during the teaching practice, we find that students, who live in Minnan Dialect Areas, are adjudged incompetent to speak and write standard Chinese, especially for those living in the villages. Therefore, with the research into the students' compositions and by questionnaire, the thesis tries to know the situation of students' using of standardized language expressions and makes a generalization and analysis of those irregular expressions in students' compositions in Minnan Dialect Areas. It can be analyzed from two aspects: the misuse of dialect vocabularies and grammars. The thesis, then, tries to find out the reason for the existence of those irregular expressions and then look for solutions to the problems in order to improve the students' abilities of using standardized language expression as well as the quality of Chinese Teaching.In order to improve students' ability of using standardized languageexpressions, the author advocates taking measures as follows: 1. Creating thegood atmosphere of speaking Putonghua. 2. Prompting Chinese teachers to playa constructive role in teaching. 3. Regarding Chinese Teaching as a tool.Improving the students' abilities of using standardized language expressionis not a business that can be undertaken in a day or swiftly, but it needspersistence and joint efforts from the whole society.
