The Current Situation Of Sports And Countermeasure Research In Liantang Town Changshu City Jiangsu Province

At the present time, the study on sports in small towns made by our national sports circle is at the primary stage, the stage at which the current situation is analyzed and described. Although there have been many researches done on present developmental situation and policy of sports of rich towns in developed areas, these researches do not grasp the factors which influence the development of sports in small towns from the systematic angle.Based on referring to numerous documents, and the present sports situation of the developed town-Liantang considered as study subject, this thesis adopted the following research methods: questionnaire investigation, investigation interviewing, observation, analyzing mathematical statistics and logical inductive method. This is a systematic study on the current developmental situation as well as developmental pattern of Liantang Town in terms of residents' body building, the school sports and the sports condition in enterprises, from which I draw the following conclusions:1. The purposes for which residents in Liantang take part in sports are as follows: to build up their bodies, to adjust their emotion, to promote interpersonal communication and to adapt themselves to society. Residents' awareness of the sports function is transforming from essential one to social one.2. The sports facilities in Liantang mainly exist in schools, township enterprises and so on. Those in schools are comparatively perfect. However, the bad management, the ownership of working union and the lack of professional staff have some negative effects on the development of residents' physical health. Most of the physical exercise is done without the guidance of experts.3. The P.E. teachers have quite good professional quality and moral virtue. They love their jobs and the people's educational cause. Most of them are in favor of teaching reform, but they are not very much in high working spirits. The leaders' indifference results in the unsteadiness of the P.E. teachers and the perfection of school facilities Worse still, the P.E. teachers lack working experience and guiding skills. These factors greatly affect the development of people's physical health.4. The main reason why students dislike having P.E. lessons is that schools don't enough updated facilities. Students sometimes have too high expectation, which actually agrees with the national health criterion.5. On the theoretical basis and connecting the facts of Liantang Town, the researcher puts forward a school-community sports development pattern, which is "making the school a central base, and displaying enterprise's leading role to promote mass sports' development in small towns." And the researcher also raises some strategies and suggestions to solve the problems based on the pattern.
