"The advice of making sure that the students of middle school and primary school have the time of every day's exercise by the Education Department" (2005), " The rules of school P.E class" points out that students should have an hour for exercises(including the P.E class). The exercising activity is the ways of keeping healthy besides of the P.E class. It's aim is to make our body and our soul healthy. That is the students' activity organized by the school after planning as well as the activities planned by students themselves. The activity time of long-time intermission is a newly-developed form of activity based on the traditional intermission. Compared with the traditional intermission, the long-time intermission activity has many advantages, including the longer time, the more activities, the lively forms. It not only can help the students have a good rest after a long time study, but also can help them keep the body healthy and make them happier in the school life.This paper focuses on the research of the schools in the XiGu community, including the Morning gym lesson, the P.E class, the middle gym. The research aims to know in the students take part in the exercise after the class, that is if they have other activities besides the P.E class during Monday to Friday. Also it aims to find out the problems in the activities, and help the P.E teachers in XiGu to expand the P.E class and other after-school activities, help more students to take part in the after-school activity.This paper can be divided into 5 parts:1. Preface: The meaning of the paper, the actuality of the extracurricular activity, the long-time intermission activity.2. The methods and the objects of this paper: A research of 102 schools in XiGu, a paper research of 1068 for 996 students in 59 schools and 72 teachers. The methods includes the literature searching, chatting with the specialists, paper insults, observation, etc.3. Actuality analysis: In XiGu community, the students can involve themselves into the normal activities after-school. About 96.4% of students can take part in the different activities more or less. About 50% of students can take the activity 3 times a week. About 46.4% of students can last the activity to 40 minutes. The satisfaction index of students and teachers can reach 50%. This index includes the organization, the equipment, and the time of the activity. Among different aims of the after-school activity, "Keeping healthy, have a hobby, improve the discipline" is the main motivation of the students' choosing. But the pressure of study, the limited time, the shortage of equipment, the limited guidance all constraint the development of the extracurricular activity. About 74.7% students have already made the suitable items that they can last for ever, but about 25.3% haven't made the items yet, that are because of the limited time and chances. The development of the extracurricular activity is to make sure that students have at least an hour to exercise and make the exercises play a positive action.4. The successful experiences introduction of Extracurricular activity at Middle and Primary School in Xigu Lanzhou:(1) The school should pay more attention to the extracurricular activity.(2) Increase the management of the extracurricular activity, and try to get the support of the head teachers and other experiences teachers.(3) Develop more equipment to offer the substance support.(4) Make the quality framework; increase the control of the quality.(5) Establish a special club for exercise.(6) Make the extracurricular activity to be individual.(7) Increase the agitation and cogeneration, help students involve in the activity consciously.(8) Increase the input of facility, change the condition of activity.(9) Try to make the extracurricular activity to have a specific form.(10) Leaders of schools should pay more attention to the extracurricular activity.5. The conclusion and suggestions:(1) Improve the methods of the P.E education, culture students' interests for it, make sure students' have an hour to exercise.(2) Free the mind, refresh thoughts, and organize colorful forms.(3) Get the most use of the organizations in school, may take the form of club and P.E association.(4) Establish and perfect the quality, the aim of the extracurricular activity.(5) The Education Department should input more for the extracurricular activity, buy more equipment, improve the terms of school and P.E activity.(6) The school should publicize the meaning and aim of the extracurricular activity, lead students involve in the activity and develop themselves.(7) The school should make use of the advantages wholly; help students to come to the habit of taking part in the exercise in the lifetime.(8) Establish the management; improve the effectiveness of the organization. (9) The competition of the extracurricular activity should face all the students.(10) Learning new concept, new form and new way from internal and offshore PE action what they start up, promoting the PE action of native Middle school and primary school to reform and develop.
