Primary School Extra-curricular Reading Survey Research

Reading is a social practice of learning languages and receiving ideas for human, and it is also a basic means for human to understand society. In 21 century, what is urgently needed is the person with whole-life learning ability, therefore, cultivating the students'abilities of independent reading, utilizing and innovating knowledge is very important. The issue of extracurricular reading has drawn much attention all over the world, and teaching staff have made many related researches on both theory and practice. On these research bases, this paper showed five aspects including students'cognition to reading, format and content, reading habit and reading environment through questionnaire form based on Dalian Shiyan elementary school. In addition, the extracurricular reading actuality and the effect of school and family on students reading were illustrated according to the reasonable interview syllabus. From the analysis of investigating and interview results, it is found that problems exist in following aspects containing extracurricular reading contents, reading habit, resource obtaining means, supervision and plan for extracurricular reading, and the relation among school, students and family. According to questions above mentioned, the paper analyzed the reason caused by society, school, teacher, student and family, and gave several suggestions to improve students'extracurricular reading, including providing reading conditions, strengthening the supervision to extracurricular reading, cultivating good reading habit, paying attention to exposition and evaluation of extracurricular reading. It is expected to help to improve reform of reading education, enrich education theory, and give new gist for scholastic and familial education, in order to positively push students'extracurricular reading, improve students'reading level and promote students'comprehensive development.
