The present these is aimed at applying the teaching pattern of the learner autonomy (also known as self-regulated learning, and its short form is SRL) into the English teaching practice, to arouse the students'studying interest, improve their capability of SRL, heighten students'English level, and build something for their life-long development.Under the wave of the educational and teaching reform, it's greatly necessary to cultivate the learner autonomy. But as a matter of fact, most of our English classroom teaching still focuses on performances of teachers, which emphasizes teaching English language points rather than developing students'ability to learn. This traditional"transmission"teaching model has a bad effect on creative thinking, which does harm to students'lifelong development. The bad behavior cannot yet suggest the idea of student-focused. As for the theoretical research into SRL, though great achievements have been made abroad and it is employed in the domestic teaching practice, it is not widely carried out and it especially remains backward in the field of English teaching practice at home.When we have studied the domestic and international independent theory, successful experience and SRL patterns, we know that SRL in the field of English teaching practice is necessary and even urgent; when we have analyzed various kinds of factors influencing SRL, we summarize several teaching strategies on how to improve the students'capability of SRL. That is to say, we should cultivate the students'motivation and build an efficient teaching pattern. The experiment proves that learning motivation is the interior motive force of promoting the students'learning. In order to improve students'capability of SRL in English, we should cultivate the students'motivation and interest, arouse the enthusiasm of students'learning and build an efficient teaching pattern which takes learning notes as a carrier. It is our duty to foster students'capability of SRL and lay a solid foundation in their lifelong development.Whether SRL can be carried out depends on the transition of the educational and teaching thought, the development state of education and learners'quality. Under the great wave of reform in education, educational practitioners have both opportunities and serious challenges to cultivate SRL.In a word, when we concretely combines modern learning theories ,new curriculum theories and English classroom teaching practice ,we put forward the strategies on how to cultivate the ability of SRL. The strategies are practical when we carry out the new curriculum. We do hope the thesis can benefit English teachers during the reform of new basic curriculum. We also expect the paper can enlighten other senior middle school teachers in other subjects.
