Inquiry Into The Causes For Youngsters' Idolatry

At present, it's a common social phenomena in our country for youngsters to idolize, especially worship various stars. It's of great importance and instruction to probe into the elementary causes from social culture, psychical development of youngsters and school education so that we can give children proper directions for their healthy growth, enrich the contents of full-scale development education and favor the cultural environments. This essay aims at investigating the phenomenon of youngsters' idolatry from three dimensions: pop culture, youngsters' self-development and their living conditions. Firstly, youngsters' idolatry reflects the newly-arising pop culture at the turning point of China's society. What is valued by pop culture has direct effect on the contents and forms of youngsters' adoration. Secondly, youngsters' idolatry is a special psychological phenomenon in their growing process. Idols take particular part in the youngsters' self-development, including relieving the anxiety caused by departing, establishing and reforming self-images and so on. Idols also play the substitution role in their exploring society and studying the value of social technology. Besides, youngsters' idolatry is the indirect out-let and expression of their adolescent dreams under the present education system, which aims at helping students to pass various entrance examinations. Inquiring into the causes for youngsters' idolatry can offer us advantages, in finding out more strategic methods for cultural construction, social and school education methodology, to make youngsters grow more healthily.
